QS-7 Product Description
QS-7 is a water-soluble triterpene saponin purified from the bark of the South American saponaria tree. Globally, the saponin extract QS-7 is currently used in five approved human recombinant protein vaccine products. It has been shown to be the gold standard adjuvant molecule for inducing favorable immune responses. There are also dozens of vaccine products containing this adjuvant molecule under development. Mechanism of action
QS-7 possesses a range of cross-activating capabilities, particularly targeting key cell populations that play a role in the acquired immune response, thus inducing the production of potent antibodies and cell-mediated immune responses, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of the vaccine. As a semi-hydrophilic surfactant, QS-7 stimulates the activation of the following processes in antigen-presenting cells, antigen phagocytosis, processing and cross-presentation via MHC. At the same time, QS-7 directly activates T cells through CD2 receptor stimulation, which in turn generates Th1-related cytokine secretion.
Application Examples
QS-7 has also been shown to increase the immunogenicity of a variety of antigens, including proteins, glycoproteins, and polysaccharides, in animal models, so it has a wide range of applications. It is currently used in a range of immunotherapeutic vaccines, such as those against tumors (melanoma, brain tumors, breast, uterine and lung cancer), neurodegenerative diseases, and infectious diseases.
Human vaccines must use high quality QS-7, which can be used alone or in as part of a formulation.
For example:
1) by forming formulations with liposomes or bisphospholipids; 2) by neutralizing surface activity and thus improving tolerance; 3) by enhancing stability in alkaline environments and maintaining high adjuvant properties in the final vaccine product.
Suggested Dosage: Mouse 10-20μg; Guinea pig 25-50μg; Rabbit/Monkey: 50-100μg.
